Personal History Dylan was born on Vega Colony to then Captain Hank Riley and his wife Helene, who was the Chaucer Professor of Literature at Vega Colony University. While growing up, his mother had to fill both parental roles due to his father almost always being deployed. When he was 17, he enlisted in the Starfleet Marines, making Private First Class upon his graduation from Basic Training. Eighteen months later he was promoted to Lance Corporal, and Corporal came soon after. Three years into his tour he was selected for Force Recon, and he made it through the training. His team was co opted by Starfleet Special Operations, and for four years they were deployed on numerous highly classified operations on the borders of Romulan space. These operations are only known to a very select few members of the upper chain of Starfleet Command and the civilian government. After three years of working behind the lines, he started to burn out, so he was remanded to the Starfleet Medical Complex on Larris IV, where he met a young Orion woman named Karina. After four months of treatment, he was reassigned to Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division on Keltis III. It was there that he decided to get out of the Marines, so he applied to Starfleet Academy and was accepted there as a Sophomore, his service time allowing him to skip his Freshman year, provided he passed the equivalency exam.

Dylan excelled at Tactical Theory and Application, and was highly lauded by his professors. His student advisor recommended that he pursue a career in the Tactical Division, and when he graduated, he was first posted to the USS Vanguard, an Excelsior Class starship exploring the Beta Quadrant. He was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade, and when Vanguard returned to Federation space, he was reassigned to the USS Leyte Gulf as Assistant Chief Tactical Officer. It was there that he reconnected with Karina, who was an assistant counselor on board. The two married a year into his assignment there. They decided the wanted a family, but the differences in Human and Orion physiology made this impossible. They got their chance a few months after their wedding, when the Leyte Gulf was sent to Bajor to help in a relief mission after a series of floods devastated the southern provinces. Many Bajoran children were orphaned, and they adopted an infant, who Dylan named after his father. After two more years on the Leyte Gulf, he was promoted to Lieutenant and reassigned to the USS Horatio Nelson. Currently awaiting transport.
Service Record To Be Continued.
